Short Trip to Bandung Part 3

Yep, it is the Part 3 of Bandung short trip!

Before you go into this page, you may need to read the previous stories, Part 1 and Part 2 so you know I did visit more than one place when I went to Bandung, Indonesia.

This was the last day I had a little fun in this city, so we packed things, checked out from the hotel, and guess what? Dad drove us to a popular tourist spot in West Java: Tangkuban Perahu, which reminded me of my childhood. In English, it literally means the upside-down boat.

Many people visit this tour place by cars

My look. There, actually this is my fur hat. That one above was my bro's :p

Simple winged black eyeliner beautified meh!

Tangkuban Perahu is a mountain - volcano! The volcano has many spots to see and explore, but Dad told me not to go too far, because we were gonna go to Sumedang, so what I could do is walking around the edge of the crater to see the boiling mud. If you have plenty of time, you can look into the crater by hiking down on it and enjoy more of the wonderful scenery. Anyway, I can still smell the sulfuric scent even the day was about to be rainy. You better cover your half face with mask or handkerchief to prevent any health issue.

This wasn't a long trip. We really didn't take a long walk, just discovered a little area. Dad always kept an eye on us, especially me -_-

There is also a legend about how Tangkuban Perahu was created from:

Long time ago in West Java, lived a beautiful girl named Dayang Sumbi. She was also smart and clever. Her beauty and intelligence made a prince from the heavenly kingdom of Kahyangan desire her as his wife. The prince asked permission from his father to marry Dayang Sumbi. People from Kahyangan could never live side by side with humans, but his father approved on one condition, when they had a child, the prince would transform into a dog. The prince accepted the condition.
They get married and lived happily in the woods until Dayang Sumbi gave birth to a baby boy. The prince then changed into a dog named Tumang. Their son is named Sangkuriang. He was very smart and handsome like his father. Everyday, he hunted animals and looked for fruits to eat. One day, when he was hunting, Sangkuriang accidentally killed Tumang. His arrow missed the deer he was targeting and hit Tumang instead. He went home and tells her mother about the dog. “What?” Dayang Sumbi was appalled. Driven by sadness and anger, she grabbed a weaving tool and hit Sangkuriang’s head with it. Dayang Sumbi was so sad; she didn’t pay any attention to Sangkuriang and started to cry.
Sangkuriang feel sad and also confused. How can his mother love a dog more than him? Sangkuriang then decided to go away from their home and went on a journey. In the morning, Dayang Sumbi finally stopped crying. She started to feel better, so she went to find Sangkuriang. But her son was no where to be found. She looked everywhere but still couldn’t find him. Finally, she went home with nothing. She was exhausted. She fell asleep, and in her dream, she meets her husband. “Dayang Sumbi, don’t be sad. Go look for my body in the woods and get the heart. Soak it with water, and use the water to bathe, and you will look young forever,” said the prince in her dream. After bathing with the water used to soak the dog’s heart, Dayang Sumbi looked more beautiful and even younger.
And time passed by. Sangkuriang on his journey stopped at a village and met and fell in love with a beautiful girl.He didn’t realize that the village was his homeland and the beautiful girl was his own mother, Dayang Sumbi. Their love grew naturally and he asked the girl to marry him. One day, Sangkuriang was going on a hunt. He asked Dayang Sumbi to fix the turban on his head. Dayang Sumbi was startled when she saw a scar on his head at the same place where she, years ago, hit Sangkuriang on the head.
After the young man left, Dayang Sumbi prayed for guidance. After praying, she became convinced that the young man was indeed her missing son. She realized that she had to do something to prevent Sangkuriang from marrying her. But she did not wish to disappoint him by cancelling the wedding. So, although she agreed to marry Sangkuriang, she would do so only on the condition that he provides her with a lake and built a beautiful boat, all in one night.
Sangkuriang accepted this condition without a doubt. He had spent his youth studying magical arts. After the sun went down, Sangkuriang went to the hill. Then he called a group of genie to build a dam around Citarum River. Then, he commands the genies to cut down trees and build a boat. A few moments before dawn, Sangkuriang and his genie servants almost finished the boat.
Dayang Sumbi, who had been spying on him, realised that Sangkuriang would fulfill the condition she had set. Dayang Sumbi immediately woke all the women in the village and asked them to wave a long red scarf. All the women in the village were waving red scarf, making it look as if dawn was breaking. Deceived by false dawn, the cock crowed and farmers rose for the new day.
Sangkuriang’s genie servants immediately dropped their work and ran for cover from the sun, which they feared. Sangkuriang grew furious. With all his anger, he kicked the unfinished boat. The boat flew and landed on a valley. The boat then became a mountain, called Mount Tangkuban Perahu (Tangkuban means upturned or upside down, and Perahu means boat). With his power, he destroyed the dam. The water drained from the lake becoming a wide plain and nowadays became a city called Bandung (from the word Bendung, which means Dam).

And now let the pictures talk! :D

Short Trip to Bandung Part 2

Like I’ve told you in the first post, now I’ll tell ya what a Floating Market in Lembang is like.

Floating Market (in Bahasa Indonesia: Pasar Apung) in Lembang is not like the floating market in general like you may have seen before, not like what you see on RCTI commercial break. Floating Market was built in December 12, 2012. It is considered still as a new place for tour visit. It looks like a pretty modern culinary spots with many features. Yes, it is much more modern. It is exactly located in Lembang, Bandung, West Java province, Indonesia.

Nope. Not like this one...

The Floating Market is previously a natural lake, which was well-known for its fishing spot. When you go inside, you will the culinary spots arranged neatly surround the lake. If you go deeper, then you can look for the right place to enjoy your food while please your eyes with the beautiful view of the lake and green hills. Fresh air will certainly fill your lungs! The large lake is not actually just a plain water. There you may find fish that you can feed, not to be fished of course, and the open caged swans, and the decorative boat and whatnot.

The parking lot seemed almost full with cars from Jakarta.

The day I went there was a bit bright and cloudy that I considered it was going to rain. One thing you should bring if you can't stand the cold temperature is definitely to keep your body warm like jacket or sweater, because it was always cold even without those raindrops.

Besides the various food merchant booths, you can also enjoy some facilities like water bike, canoe and motor boat, etc (I think you will be charged the fee up to IDR 70,000). You can even rent a boat to go around the lake. Unfortunately I couldn’t even try any one of them. I saw an elder American tourist couple traveled in the canoe and it looked so fun, I wonder how they could stay the balance on the water... >.<

The entrance ticket is IDR 15,000 for each person and IDR 10,000 (or 5,000? I forgot!) for each car. If you already have the ticket in your hand, you may exchange it for a welcome drink that you can choose whether you like Milo, coffee latte, or choco latte.

A cup of hot latte will beat your freezy hands~

I traded it before going back to hotel

To begin shopping in the Floating Market, you need to exchange your money with coins. Those coins are available in four colors which represent its values. They are Yellow for 5,000, blue for 10,000, pink for 50,000, and orange for 100,000. All counts in IDR currency. FYI, it is better to trade coins valued at 5,000 and 10,000 because they can’t be redeemed back with your real money. You need to save some money and use the coins wisely. However, they can be used for your next visit LOL.

Along the path of Floating Market there your eyes will be spoiled by seeing attractive gardens of beautiful flowers and large trees, small gazebos and unique traditional buildings. I may say that this place has many cool spots for photography, and for you who likes to do selfies lol. I saw there are quite a lot of seats, so you don’t have to worry in looking for a place to enjoy the view, the air, and the food. :D

It is a very neat location.

One of traditional buildings, Joglo. Please ignore the model *cough cough*

Along the path in the Floating Market. Please ignore the strange pose.

Floating Market opens from 10 am to 5 pm on weekdays, and 9 am to 10 pm on weekend.

The popular street food of Jakarta is here...
After enjoying some meals, my dad started to call continuously to go back to the hotel because the next day we were gonna visit the dormant volcano!

Hell yeah I wore a pair of purple flip flops so what LOL

NB: This writing may not good enough since I was there only less than 2 hours, I guess.

Short Trip to Bandung Part 1

Everybody (not everybody exactly) was asking where I go during the whole holiday week since I didn’t appear on any contact for a long time. It because I was on a trip to many places out of Jakarta, and you know, the crazy traffic jam happened many times when everyone’s going for a holiday trip too. I couldn’t just use any gadget for not-so-important purposes because I was afraid I would out of batteries. I only brought one power bank, and I had to use it wisely.

The view while on the way~

This holiday was actually the unpredictable one because my dad took us (me, mom, brother) to go somewhere in Bandung before we go to my mom’s hometown in Sumedang. Bandung and Sumedang are both located in West Java, Indonesia, but during the holiday season I felt that the distance becomes very loooong which made me ever stucked for more than 2 hours in the car. Yeah, we spent too much time on the routes. DAT TRAFFIC JAM.

And what I did is…

Ehm, selfie is kinda important these days… LOL

From 5 a.m to 11.00 a.m, finally dad decided to stop in Lembang.

We stayed in Hotel Bumi Makmur Indah. It is located at Jalan Raya Lembang No. 224, Lembang, West Java 40391. This hotel is near across Hotel Pesona Bamboe and Pertapaan Karmel Lembang (Gua Maria). For more information you can check the website on www.hotelbmilembang.com or on google to see any review about the hotel.

Hotel Bumi Makmur Indah

I think this is good enough for a recommended but cheap place to stay over, especially if you are enjoying holiday with a big family or friends in a big group because…

I didn’t take any good picture of how the room looked like because I was too tired and dazed but yes, the room which I was in consisted of 1 king-sized bed, 2 queen-sized bed, a television and a bathroom with hot water shower. It can fit 4-5 people once in a room. FYI, dad didn’t want to tell me the room type and the service charge. Bleh.

Oh yea that was my brother. Hi.

This was exactly what the bed looked like, not bad tho
Source

After we put some stuff at the hotel, we rested for a while, then dad drove us to the Floating Market (which will be posted on part 2) for lunch, and then we went to Karmel.

Pertapaan Karmel Lembang is a religious complex which is comprised of Kapel (Chapel) Santa Maria Fatima dari Gunung Karmel or it is known as Gereja (Church) Karmel Lembang, Gua (Grotto) Maria Karmel and Station of the Cross (Jalan Salib). If you’re a catholic, then this is a great place for doing penance. Unfortunately I didn’t even take any single picture since there was a warning for not taking photo as it was not a recreation area, so I put down my camera.

Afterwards, we had a dinner in a Chinese food restaurant which was rather expensive, but it deserved to get the price for the great taste. Again, I took no picture because we had been so hungry and you know what’s next lol.

I’m sorry I couldn’t explain more about these places since we just stopped by for a night.

PS: I’m sorry for not representing myself as a CorpGoth because I keep all my Gothic stuff at home. I didn’t have much time to paint my nails black and match a bat necklace with any dress.

What Happened in Two Months

So, hi.
*suddenly appear from the gloomy secret chamber*
*wave hands*

I am now typing in a rush, between the annoying work hour and the seconds of mid test preparation (which is sucks) and I want to blog again so bad but I just need more time to revise some drafts or editing the pictures. Well, some of my fellas asked where I have been, and I was like, "Trying to enjoy real life and deal with it, ya know."

Just in short ('cause I'm gonna publish the post about it separately, soon), I was travelling - of course out of the city with my dear family during Ramadhan month and I did a fun short trip in the end of college holiday. Weeks after, I joined my energetic partners in English Club for promoting our booth to the college freshmen. Then, I went back to "normal life cycle" until I've got to work on so many (wasting) assignments x'D Uuu yea, college. homework. books.

spoileeeeer

Anyway among all of these things, thank god I still could celebrate my 21st birthday with a numerous JCo donuts and lovely presents. In addition, we wouldn't let ourselves miss our 6 years anniversarry for being a four-eyed couple lol. We did have a great casual dinner. Thank you so much, love ♥

Leather bracelet for me, aww <3 td="">

It's been a long 6 years :D
We forgot to take the 'culinary' documentation LOL
The bad thing is, you know what, my phone doesn't work well as it is not supposed to be. Many pictures I took for this blog were just gone. Some contacts and data were disappeared too. So it really affects my work. In fact, I am an android user without many social medias and game applications. Besides, I also experienced an unordinary big bruise on my right calf which healed by itself. It somehow hurt a little bit when it got touched. Anyone of you have idea what was going on me?

The worst thing is, I just missed my October Halloween. Thank you, papers, I blame you. *cursing*
Again, apologize for this disappearing moment. I'm still working on my education stuff. With a little self-help and music therapy, will be back soon. :)

My last year Halloween, read here :3

Never too late, to Halloween we celebrate.

In the name of black roses,

Katarina Yuri.
